The S. Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants
The UK magazine Restaurant, which lives by the tagline "For the professional and the passionate," launched this annual list in 2002. The judging involved a designated chairperson (a food critic) from each of the 22 divided regions leading a panel of voters. El Bulli in Spain landed the number one spot, followed by The Fat Duck in the UK and Noma in Denmark, which was lauded for its starter of crunchy baby carrots served with edible "soil" made from malt, hazelnuts and beer.
